The OBGS was founded with the purpose of keeping Old Boys in touch with each other and the School, to develop sporting clubs and to arrange gatherings. This remains the principal objective behind the activities of the OBGS Committee.
The reunion program continues to be strongly supported. In 2008 we celebrated the Centenary of the OBGS which was founded in 1908 by Dr Crowther with a dinner at the Great Hall of the National Gallery of Victoria and inducted 27 Old Boys into the BGS Hall of Fame.
The OBGS is run by a hard working committee of Old Boys which meets on the first Monday of each month and we are always on the lookout for additional members to inject new ideas and a fresh perspective. Please give me or Andrew Biggin, the OBGS Executive Officer and Alumni Relations Manager, a call if you’re interested in joining.
There are a variety of different ways Old Boys can maintain involvement with the school through the OBGS and the Affiliated Clubs provide a great vehicle to do so. Whatever your level of interest, we can accommodate whether it be the reunion program that will bring you back in contact with your school mates every five years, playing in or supporting one of the affiliated sporting clubs, involvement in one of the non-player supports clubs or just receiving the biannual BGS magazine “Meliora Sequamur”, we do like to keep in touch and help you maintain that connection with your old School.
