Douglas Warbrick Cold water, a love of surfing and some sharp ideas helped Doug Warbrick and a mate develop Rip Curl into an iconic international brand and a major sponsor of the sport worldwide.
In 1967 they had started making surfboards to indulge their passion at Torquay and by 1969 with the help of a vintage sewing machine began running up wet suits.
The rest is history.
“The Claw”, was and still is, a test pilot for his products and the successful synthesis of business and beach culture is celebrated every Easter at the prestigious Rip Curl Pro at Bells Beach.
