Raymond Tovell ,army officer, accountant and politician served gallantly and with great distinction in two World Wars before returning and making his mark in State Parliament. He had reached the rank of Brigadier after the battle of Tobruk. In 1946 he became the Liberal member for Brighton handling the education portfolio and would remain a minister for a decade.
He died in 1966.
