William "Doc" McClelland

William “Doc” McClelland was a giant in the football world at the turn of the last century. He played 75 games for Melbourne, was on a back flank in Melbourne’s 1900 premiership side and captained the team for the next four years.

He would become president of the Melbourne Cricket Club and from 1926 until 1955 President of the Victorian Football League.  In 1996 this mighty player and administrator was posthumously inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame.
