Congratulations, Roger Wilson OAM (OB 1961)

The School congratulates Old Boy Roger Wilson (OB 1961) on being awarded an Order of Australia Medal for his services to the sport of rowing.  The Queen's Birthday 2009 honour recognises his role as a media commentator for rowing in Australia, as well as his contributions to the broader community and to the business world.

Roger's commitment to rowing is extensive including at BGS where he coached rowing from 1963 including coaching the Ist VIII from 1975 - 1979 and in 1976 achieved the Ist VIII's first ever appearance in the 'A' Final at the Head of the River.

Roger has experienced many highlights during his almost 50 year involvement in rowing but he still rates his greatest thrill as calling the BGS 1st VIII across the line in the School's first Head of the River win in 1983.
