Influenza H1N1 (Human Swine Flu) Update
Please find attached a copy of the letter that was distributed to all parents yesterday regarding Influenza H1N1 (Human Swine Flu). Click here to access the letter. Two cases have been confirmed, one in Year 9 and one in Year 11. The letter was sent within the framework of what was then appropriate advice from Government. The Victorian Government has now moved to a modified Sustain Phase of its Influenza plan.
We attach information circulated to Independent Schools this morning that outlines the confirmed new approach. Click here to access the information. As you can see from the attachment, with the modified Sustain Phase response Victoria will require confirmed cases to isolate themselves for three days following the commencement of antiviral treatment, but household contacts will not be required to be quarantined. Students with flu-like illness are to go into home quarantine for three days, but schools will no longer be automatically closed if there are confirmed cases across several classes.
