Dalziel Club

A football parents and supporters’ group was established in 2007, and soon took on the name of the Dalziel Club, named after Mr. Danny Dalziel. Danny was our 1st XVIII coach for many seasons at the school and coached our first APS Premiership in 1975.

The Dalziel Club aims to not only assist in developing football at the school, but also provides parents, supporters and Old Boys the chance to socialise during the season. In the last twelve months the Dalziel Club has raised funds that have contributed to several areas of the football program, aimed at requests ‘above and beyond’ what the school is expected to provide. In the last year alone, the Dalziel Club has funded the following:

  • A generous subsidy for 30 boys in Years 7-10 to attend a Development Camp held in Sorrento in April 2008.
  • Game day polo shirts and weatherproof jackets for all football coaches.
  • Sports bags for all boys in the 1st XVIII Football squad.
  • In association with the Old Brighton Grammarians Football Club, jumpers for our 1st XVIII Football team.
  • Banners that have been erected around the Crowther Oval, providing a colourful addition for surrounding buildings.
  • Touring clothing for 40 Rosstrevor boys for their Tasmania Tour in July 2008.

Much of this funding has been made possible through both membership of the club and fundraising at several social events. We encourage all football families at the school to be involved in the Dalziel Club. It is pleasing that many Old Boys with a close association to Danny Dalziel have also enjoyed an ongoing association.
