Brighton Grammar School provides a challenging range of sports and activities throughout the School. These are specifically designed to provide new experiences and adventures for boys. The extension of boys outside the classroom is inherent to our philosophy of excellence in boys' education.
Outdoor Education
Outdoor Education activities provide the boys from Years 3 to 12 with some of their most exciting, rewarding and memorable experiences.
A special focus for many of the boys is the Duke of Edinburgh scheme. This multi-faceted program, with gold, silver and bronze levels of achievement, requires a commitment to Community Service, Expedition and Skill Development.
From Year 9 boys are involved in the Cadet Unit and St. John Ambulance Service – both programs offer a structured training training program designed to develop skills in navigation, first aid, bushcraft and, most importantly, leadership.
Camps include:
- Labertouche (school campsite)
- Gippsland Lakes
- Cross Country Skiing
- Rock Climbing
- White Water Rafting
Community Service
As a School with a strong sense of community, Brighton Grammar encourages all boys to become involved in projects that provide assistance and caring to others.
In addition to their participation in the Year 11 Community Service Program, students demonstrate their social responsibility by their active support for such causes as the Frankston Camp, the Blood Bank, Neighbourhood Watch and the Remembrance Day and Red Shield Appeals.
- Duke of Edinburgh Award
- Community Service
- St John Ambulance Courses
Debating
The School's understanding of the life-long importance of effective public speaking and presentation is reinforced by the many opportunities offered to the boys.
Debating is also a key activity. A number of teams enter the interschool competition and there is an extensive inter-House competition. Boys are also encouraged to participate in public speaking competitions within and outside the School.
