The Application Process

Application Process

Once you have chosen Brighton Grammar School for your son you can commence the enrolment process by following the procedures outlined below.

Brighton Grammar School has developed an excellent reputation as a leading school for boys and, as a consequence, places in most year levels are highly sought after.

We suggest that parents make contact with our Director of Admissions and begin the application process well in advance of the proposed enrolment year.

Key entry years are: ELC 3 (40 places); Year 3 (approx. 25 places); Year 5 ( approx. 25 places); Year 7 (approx. 50 places).

Applications for enrolment are considered and offers made for places in conjunction with a number of criteria including:

  • Date of Application
  • Availability of places
  • Family or other association with the School
  • Academic record
  • Interests and other abilities of the boy
  • Siblings at Firbank Grammar School
  • Transfers from interstate or overseas schools similar to Brighton Grammar School.

In applying these criteria at a particular time, the needs of the School are taken into account.

If you are applying from Australia and you are an Australian citizen or an Australian Permanent Resident apply online to receive a prospectus pack which includes an Application for Admission Form, or contact our Director of Admissions, Jo Hudson, on 03 8591 2202.

Information specific to International Student Applications is available here.

Complete the Student Application for Admission Form and return it to the School together with the application fee and associated documents (as described on the Application for Admission form).

Application for Admission forms are acknowledged with a receipt and letter.

If the Year Level for which your son has applied is full, your son can be placed on a waiting list and will be contacted if a vacancy arises.

Approximately 18 months prior to the proposed year of enrolment, or sooner if time does not allow, you and your son will be invited to meet with the relevant Head of School. You are required to provide your son’s latest school report and Naplan results (if applicable).

After the interview, and after all considerations have been taken into account and there is a place available, a Letter of Offer may be made to you.

You can accept this offer by paying the non refundable Confirmation Fee.

The family will then be contacted regarding orientation and transition programs.
