So many ways to give to BGS
Annual Giving
Your gift will make a direct and immediate impact to the boys and staff of the School. Gifts to the Annual Giving campaign allow us to undertake small capital works that will enhance the day to day learning in the classroom.
Donate Now
Each academic year is a new journey filled with new possibilities and urgent priorities – priorities that are deferred simply because of a lack of funds.
Past projects that have been possible due to your support through Annual Giving include the installation of shade sails and the $250,000 investment in the Weights and Conditioning Centre in the gym, which ensures every boy from Year 7 to 12 can have his own individually tailored strength and aerobic training program
Last year's Annual Giving campaign is still active. If you have donated already, thank you. If you haven’t had a chance to give yet, donate online today or phone through a credit card donation on 03 8591 2271.

Dedication or Memorial Giving
Memorial Giving
Rather than giving the traditional gift of flowers at the time of someone’s passing, some families from our School community choose to support the School in memory of the deceased. For those people for whom the School has always been important, memorial gifts gives mourners the opportunity to do something positive and to support a cause close to the deceased's heart.
Memorial envelopes and a drop box are available at short notice from the Development Office and can be distributed at the funeral. For more information or to arrange delivery please contact the Development Office on 03 8591 2271.
Donate in lieu of a gift
If you, your family or friends have benefited from a Brighton Grammar School education, making a donation to BGS in lieu of a birthday, wedding or anniversary gift is a wonderful way to show that you care while supporting education.
If you would like to make a donation in lieu of a gift or ask guests to your celebration to support BGS in lieu of a gift to you, call 03 8591 2271 or email: smartin@brightongrammar.vic.edu.au
We can provide customised donation slips for your invitations or gift cards sized to fit inside any celebratory card.
The BGS Pink Angel Fund
The BGS Pink Angel Fund
The BGS Pink Angel Fund was established in 2010 to support the informal outreach work undertaken by the School community to other members of the BGS community in times of illness and short term family crisis. Examples of support include:
- Providing a family with meals
- Providing ironing or cleaning assistance
Donations made to the BGS Pink Angel Fund are not tax deductible and can only be made at the time or immediately after the biannual BGS Pink Dinner.
Major Gifts (Capital Campaigns)
Our success depends on you. The pace of change and the realisation of the BGS Facilities Master plan are wholly dependent of the philanthropic support we get from you, our community. With your help over recent years we have achieved some amazing things
- A new boy friendly Early Learning Centre
- A major Senior School development including the Library Resource Centre, Hay Family Lecture Theatre and Atrium
- The redevelopment of the Weights and Conditioning Centre in the gym
- The redevelopment of the School playing fields
- Installation of a major water harvesting and storage system
But without your continued support we cannot continue this program of change.
Our current capital works program is a $20 million new Middle School for our Year 7 and 8 boys on the Girrawheen site across Allee Street adjacent to the current Rosstrevor. In response to the rapidly changing way of teaching boys, the design of the buildings is like nothing we have had at BGS before.
Would you like to know how to support the new Middle School? Ring and make a time to meet with John Phillips, Director of Special Projects and Community Engagement, on 8591 2280.
Chairman’s Circle
You are invited to join a special group of like-minded people who have the capacity and inclination to support the work of the School at the most generous levels. An initiative established by our current Chairman Ian Paroissien in 2010 for any donor to the School going forward who gives at the level of $50,000 or more. Ian is seeking other donors to join him in the Chairman’s Circle over the next three years as he seeks to raise $2.5 million support the School’s building program - in particular, the new Middle School project.
To reach eligibility for the Chairman’s Circle, donations can be pledged over 3, 4 or 5 years. Would you like to learn more? Email today and we will put you in direct contact with Ian or the Headmaster who would love to share with you their vision for the School.
Endowment Campaign
With your help we are determined to protect the future of the School from the fluctuations of government funding by building the Brighton Grammar School Endowment Fund. As donations to this fund are not tax deductible, most donations are received through bequests and legacies.
It is our goal, that together we can grow the Endowment Fund by $10 million over the next decade with the capital of the BGS Endowment Fund remaining intact and only a percentage of the interest earned being used to assist the School develop and grow.
All general purpose bequests made to Brighton Grammar School are invested in the BGS Endowment Fund. Bequests made for a specific purpose are allocated according to the wishes of the donor.
Have you ever considered a fund honouring your family’s name? It’s easy and affordable.....
Opportunity exists for you to set up a permanent named endowment under the umbrella of the BGS Endowment Fund. To establish a named fund requires a gift of at least $10,000. Your gift will be invested as part of the BGS Endowment pool. Because of the combined value of our assets, the BGS Endowment Fund attracts a high rate of return. We aim to protect and grow the principal value of your gift.
As the donor you have the right to determine the area to which you would like your gift allocated. So, as an example, if you set up a fund to support the Music School, BGS will allocate your gift to that purpose for as long as a Music School exists.
Would you like to discuss the opportunity of a Named Endowment? Email John Phillips or phone 03 8591 2280
Scholarships
Scholarships play a critical role in ensuring we have a School of boys with a diversity of talents, backgrounds and experiences.
The BGS Scholarship Fund creates educational opportunities for talented boys who otherwise may not be able to afford a Brighton Grammar School Education. Scholarships provide hope and opportunity and help young men reach their potential.
There are boys we’d love to come here. But they can’t afford it until we raise more money for scholarships. Are you ready to help?
Opportunity also exists to establish a Named Scholarship now, or to put in place for a named Scholarship to be funded from a gift in your Will. Our goal is to raise enough capital to be held in perpetuity to establish a new scholarship each year for the next 10 years.
Most of our scholarships are currently either unfunded or only partly funded, so any donation to the scholarship fund will provide additional overall income to the School. Does the opportunity to create a named Scholarship appeal? Email John Phillips or ring (03) 8591 2280.
Donations made to the BGS Scholarship Fund are tax deductible. Donate now or call (03) 8591 2271 during normal business hours.
