Bequests

Why leave a bequest to BGS?

To create new facilities, develop innovative learning programs, maximize the skills of our Staff, and provide scholarships to worthy applicants; tuition fees will never meet all these needs so we rely on your support as a member of our School Community.

Your bequest enables the School to confidently build for the future.

Your bequest will not affect your present financial circumstances

By leaving a bequest, including the School in your Will, you are making a valuable contribution to ensuring the School’s future without affecting your present financial circumstances.

Your bequest, no matter the form or amount, guarantees and strengthens our future

Bequests can vary in form: the remainder of an estate after providing for family and loved ones; a percentage of an estate; a fixed sum; a life insurance policy, property or shares.

Every bequest, no matter the amount, strengthens our future.

Making or revising a Will is neither difficult nor expensive

It is essential that you have a Will. Surprisingly, many do not. If you have already made your Will, you or your solicitor can prepare a codicil, which is a simple and inexpensive amendment to your Will. The BGS Development Office has a codicil form professionally drafted for this purpose.

Your opportunity to establish an Endowment Fund

Another option is to establish an Endowment, a fund named in your memory or in the memory of a loved one. The capital remains untouched in perpetuity and the interest of the fund is used for your pre-designated purpose such as a scholarship or supporting a particular interest, for example, the Performing Arts.

Take a tour of our School and see what your bequest will do

When considering a bequest, come and take a tour of the School and discuss your thoughts with the School’s Bequest Manager, Peter Toms. Peter will be delighted to share with you the School’s long term plans and clarify how your bequest will ensure their viability.

The Sequamur Society

The Sequamur Society has been established to honour those members of our Brighton Grammar School Community who have confirmed their intention to include the School in their Will. Members have their names recorded in perpetuity in the Sequamur Society Journal and on the Sequamur Society Honour Board and are invited to special School events attended by the Headmaster and members of the School Council.
