Brighton Grammar School is the latest club to join the new Melbourne Rebels Club Partnership Program.

The new program, launched on the eve of the 2016 Asteron Life Super Rugby season, will see the junior Rugby players at the school receive free Melbourne Rebels Junior Memberships for the season.

All junior players will get free access to all seven Rebels home games in 2016, including next weekend’s first home game against the Queensland Reds at AAMI Park.

“The boys are really excited for the season now because they want to get down and watch the Rebels and take their families with them,” Brighton Grammar School Head of Faculty HPE & PEB, Mr Peter Whitehead said.

“The fact they get free membership doesn’t get much better than that.”

Rebels captain Nic Stirzaker and Head Strength and Conditioning Coach Shane Lehane met with students at Brighton Grammar School on Monday to share their experiences of being involved in a high performance program.

“It’s really exciting for us, we’ve had a link with the Rebels in the past but it seems to be growing more and more now,” Mr Whitehead said.

“The boys really look up to the Rebels players and really appreciate the hard work they put in to be successful.

“It’s that hard work ethic and culture that we’re really trying to develop here at Brighton Grammar.

“We’re big on elite performance, whether it’s academic or sports, and we’re looking to replicate those high performance programs, like the Rebels.”

The club program, which includes two key elements, the Rebels Club Fundraising Initiative and the Road to Rebels Junior Member Program, was developed to recognise the contribution of local clubs to the community and growth of Rugby across Victoria.

Through the partnership, the Rebels will work closely with clubs to development additional opportunities for fundraising and engage with the Super Rugby club’s players, coaches and staff.

For access to the Road to Rebels Junior Membership Program and Rebels Club Fundraising Agreement, local clubs must sign the free Club Partnership Program.

Local clubs interested in joining the Club Partnership Program should contact Shannon Wylde Manager, Membership and Ticketing at Shannon.wylde@melbournerebels.com.au or (03) 9221 0732.
