Meliora Club
The Meliora Club for past rowers was established in 1968 by a group of past BGS oarsmen under the leadership of 1967 Captain of Boats and three time 1st VIII rower, Paul Purcell. The purpose of the group is to:
- support rowing at BGS;
- provide a means for past BGS rowers and rowing supporters to keep in touch.
The first Meliora Club dinner was held at the Prince of Wales Hotel in St Kilda on the Tuesday immediately before the 1968 Head of the River. The dinner has been held on the Tuesday before the Head of the River every year since.
