FAQs

  • How do I enquire to join classes at BGS Swim?

    Please complete our Online Enquiry Form and a member of our team will be in contact.

  • What are the term dates for 2024?
    • Term 1: 30 January – 28 March
    • Term 2: 16 April – 21 June
    • Term 3: 16 July – 20 September
    • Term 4: 8 October – 13 December
  • Do you offer school holiday program?

    Yes, we run 5 school holiday programs throughout the year in April, June, October, December and January.

  • Do you have private lessons?

    Yes. please use the enquiry form to our team for more information.

  • What does my child need to bring to a lesson?

    Goggles are compulsory and swimming caps are highly recommended for student comfort and safety. BGS Swim will provide other equipment that is required for your child’s lesson. Do not forget to pack a towel. Due to density limits within change rooms students are encouraged to arrive in their bathers.

  • Can I sign up midterm?

    Enrolments are accepted throughout the term and term fees are pro-rated.

  • How can my child join squad?

    Please email BGS Swim for details of our Swimming Club and Squad program.

  • How can I book a make-up lesson?

    We understand that sometimes your child will miss a lesson due to illness.  If this happens, you may qualify for a make-up lesson.  To qualify, please observe the following:

    •  Notice must be given at least 3 hours prior to the scheduled class start time.
    • Make-up classes are processed through our online customer portal, using your unique log-in details.
    • We will do our best to find a suitable and convenient spot for your child’s make-up lesson
  • BGS Swim – Cancellations

    Cancellation by the School

    In circumstances where lessons are required to be cancelled by BGS, make-up lessons will be offered on an individual basis in most cases. These can be booked by families through the Simply Swim Customer Portal.

    If make-up lessons are not available within 30 days, a credit will be applied against the family’s account.

    Cancellation by the Family

    Enrolment in the Swim School will automatically continue from term to term unless otherwise advised. Cancellations will be accepted within 7 days from the invoice issue date each term. Withdrawals outside of this timeframe incur an administration fee of $50.

    Cancellation due to COVID

    Where government regulations have enforced a lockdown resulting in a suspension of classes, make-up classes will be made available for up to 30 days after re-opening.

  • How big is the pool?

    Our pool has 6 lanes and is a 25m pool, with a 1.25m shallow end and the deep end is 2.70m. It’s a recently refurbished indoor aquatic centre with the water temperature appropriately set to 30 degrees for our Learn to Swim and Swim Club Squad programs.

Policies

  • Enrolment

    Enrolment in the Swim School is open to Community members as well as BGS students current and future and their siblings from age 4 upwards.

    Places are limited and subject to availability at the time of completing an Enquiry Form.

     

  • Confirmation of Enrolment

    A place will be confirmed via email based on availability once a swim assessment has been completed to determine the appropriate competency level.

    Once a place has been offered payment of Term fees in advance is due within 7 days to secure the enrolment.

  • Term Fees - Swim School

    Term fees are due and payable for the complete term in advance. Term fees are based on the number of weeks in the term.

    The published due dates are the only payment options offered by the School. Normal payment terms are 7 days from the date of the invoice. Failure to make payment within this timeframe may result in the place being offered to another student.

  • Term Fees - Squad

    Families with swimmers in both learn to swim program and squad program will be invoiced one term in advance through Simply Swim. Fees also include training in the school holidays following that term for any squad students.

  • Payment Options

    Payments can only be made through the online secure payment portal Simply Swim at https://b1101147.family-portal.com.au

  • How do I access the Parent Swim Portal

    Families can pay for lessons, check on student progress and view timetable via the Parent Swim Portal.

  • Absences

    If a lesson is missed due to illness or personal reasons, notice must be given at least 3 hours prior to the scheduled class start time, through the Simply Swim Customer Portal, or via email. If the School is not notified within this timeframe, the lesson will be forfeited.

    Make-up lessons will be offered through the Simply Swim Customer Portal to a maximum of 2 lesson per term, and should be used within 14 days. Make-up lessons cannot be exchanged for cash refunds or future credits.

  • Cancellations

  • Medical Conditions

    BGS Swim must be informed in a timely manner of a student’s medical needs. This includes but is not limited to changes due to significant illness, accident or disability, (including head knocks or other material injuries) suffered or developed by the student during their enrolment, whether it be during a School activity or otherwise.

    No student is allowed to enter the School from a household where there could be an infectious disease or a reasonable expectation that an infectious disease is present without giving the School prior notice and upon production of a doctor’s certificate stating that there is no longer a risk of infection to others.

  • Supervision

    Families with accompanying siblings must supervise their children and be kept within arm’s reach at all times.

    Students are not to enter the water until the teacher is present.

    Parents should not approach instructors during session times. Any queries should be directed to the supervisor on duty at swim reception.

    Children aged 7 years and older are not permitted in the opposite sex changeroom.

    Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by a parent or carer at all times.

    Adults are not permitted in the opposite sex changeroom.

  • Photographic and Video Images

    Photographs and video footage are forbidden in the Swim School. Parental permission will be obtained for photographs to be used by BGS.

  • Insurance

    The School carries 24-hour student personal accident insurance for all registered students.

    The cover excludes any refund gaps for costs covered by Medicare.

  • General

    All students are expected to uphold the School values and obey all School rules, policies, procedures and instructions from staff. Failure to meet these requirements may lead to disciplinary action and may jeopardise the student’s ongoing enrolment at the School.

    All parents are expected to uphold the School’s core values as detailed in the Parent Code of Conduct.
