Sea Change scuba

The Sea Change scuba camp at Tweed Heads involves an intensive course of theory and practical instruction. The instructors, from Tweed Seasports, were fantastic. Within the first hour, they knew all the boys’ names, making them feel confident and at home.

After learning about the equipment and practising in the swimming pool, we headed out to Cook Island to do an open-water dive at a turtle sanctuary. On the way out, we met a pod of whales at close quarters. While the boys were diving, some could hear the whales calling to each other.

All the boys passed their tests in the second week and are now qualified to dive to a depth of 18 metres. When they received their certificates, they rang a bell from the galley of an old Spanish galleon that our dive instructors had helped recover off the coast of Belize.

At the end of the course, the boys turned up with a huge Nemo for the Tweed Seasports staff, as a thank you!
