From the Head of the Crowther Centre – Dr Ray Swann

Wellbeing and Innovation

Parents may have heard about the work we have been doing through the Crowther Centre with the Centre for Positive Psychology based at the University of Melbourne. Following our memorandum of understanding with Melbourne University, we were pleased to host Professor Dianne Vella-Brodrick (Chair) at Brighton Grammar for her sabbatical in 2018. This year, we are running a project that emerged from that work – Bio-Dash.

Bio-Dash is a program that teaches our boys strategies to focus, manage stress and reduce anxiety using biofeedback and gaming. Along with higher engagement in learning about wellbeing, we anticipate seeing real results for the boys in reducing pressure and enhancing performance. This year the Bio-Dash program focuses on Year 9 boys, with some Year 11 boys (who were involved in developing the program) acting as coaches.

You can read more about Bio-Dash here.
