In this together: Reconciliation

In preparation for the boys' return to school, Indigenous and Cultural Development Coordinator James Hilditch, School Captain Jack Clarkson and Prefect Jaikob Akinci held the first of many student forums on Tuesday 19 May.

Boys will be invited to be a part of the preparations for our Reconciliation Action Plan and the events of Reconciliation Week from 27 May to 3 June.

Community support will be called for as both Brighton Grammar and Firbank Grammar Schools come together to watch, In My Blood It Runs, a film by the Arrernte and Garrwa elders to make Australian schools more culturally safe for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

During Reconciliation Week, we will be encouraging all families to walk with 10 year old Dujuan and his family as they negotiate a western education as a First Nations community. A webinar will be held on Tuesday 2 June at 5.00pm with both BGS and Firbank Indigenous Mentors, Nathan Lovett Murray and Sarai Roe.

The short video below outlines our planned celebrations for the week.
