After two long and testing days of racing in strong and wet conditions, BGS’s doggedly competitive spirit held fast. Heading into the regatta’s ultimate day on Sunday, BGS was the only school to have a record three sailing fleets qualify for their respective finals series.

During a competitive grand final series with respected rival Peninsula Grammar, the BGS firsts team was victorious and claimed the 2023 Division 1 State Championships: 3-1 the final result. In a dominate display of boat handling and team spirit, BGS Division 1 Sailors lost only one race for the entire regatta.

BGS Sailing’s seconds team finished 5th in Division 1 and the thirds team finished 5th in Division 2, showing depth and consistency by all sailors.

A sincere thank you to the BGS coaches and parents for their efforts this season. In addition, a special mention to our departing Year 12s, Matty Goss (Captain) and Ollie van der Slot (VC), who, alongside their families, have given many years of dedication and support to the program.
