STEM Racing Finals Success

Skill, innovation and teamwork

The next generation of BGS STEM Racing teams competed at the STEM Racing State Finals, held from 20-22 October. Our two Year 7 and two Year 8 teams proudly represented the School with outstanding skill, innovation, and teamwork across the Professional, Development, and Cadet classes.

The competition featured a range of engineering and enterprise components, including 10-minute verbal presentations, detailed portfolios, trade displays and knockout races.

In the Professional Class, Team QUASII, comprising Year 8 students Everett Quinert, Luke Zheng and Terry Ding impressed the judges with their precision and professionalism, securing 3rd place in the Junior Professional Class.

In the Development Class, Team RPM, Year 7 students Andy Chen, Evan Auden, Oliver Watson and Roy Gu, achieved exceptional success, winning Best Trade Display and the highly esteemed Students’ Choice Award.

Team STRIVE (Yareed Mahmudul, Alex Owen, Branden Turner, Myles Burchell and Bailey Suddes, all Year 8) also displayed excellent teamwork and creativity throughout the competition.

In the Cadet Class, PERTINAX Racing, Year 7 students Hamish Halliday, Anahad Vishnuvajjula, and Charlie Hunter, demonstrated impressive engineering and design skills, rounding out a highly successful event.

Congratulations to all students on their remarkable achievements, a true reflection of the innovation, persistence, and collaboration that define our School’s STEM program.

All teams have gained invaluable experience and we thank Team Lunar and Team Ad Astra students for helping out throughout the competition.
