How do we live with technology?

As we get to different ages and stages with our kids, we also need to adjust our ways of parenting and update our “tool kit”. When it comes to technology, parents tell us they often feel like they are flying blind. Instinctively we know our kids shouldn’t be on their screens too much, but what does “too much” really mean?

This year, Kristen Molloy, Associate Head of the Crowther Centre has done terrific work addressing mobile phone use at school, resulting in a school wide ban of phones in school hours. While this was always the case for our younger boys, parents have been involved in decision making and policy development throughout.

Interestingly, much of the feedback has indicated that parents want clear guidelines about use of devices.

This week we spent time with parents from the Junior School, facilitating discussions about how to safely navigate screen time and support our kids to have the childhood that we wish for them – with the right balance of activities to support healthy development.

You can find our executive report here, and please reach out to us at the Crowther Centre if you have any questions.
