Deputy Headmaster, Head of the Crowther Centre

Term 1 has been a productive one for the Crowther team. Along with many teams in our school, we prioritise spending time together at the beginning of the year refreshing our goals and updating our offerings.

Along with our strong focus on literacy, we are developing a new oracy program in 2026. We are carefully considering the role of AI in education, and have a renewed focus on creativity.

Our teaching and learning strategies are always supported by data, and we have enjoyed finding areas of opportunity to improve learning outcomes by focusing on memory. Our coaching programs continue to develop, with both staff and boys benefiting from our whole school commitment to improvement and high performance.

Our Positive Masculinity team have been busy reviewing our Capstone programs, with particular emphasis on Awake (Year 9) First Horizon (Year 10) and Young Warriors (Year 4). We have been working with our Outdoor Education team to ensure that our programs continue to meet the needs of boys in this age. Our Junior School +M curriculum continues to develop, with positive support from JS classroom teachers to embed the +M framework in day-to-day school life.

For parents, we have been working hard to build out our new programs, with increased opportunities to come together at workshops or online to strengthen our valued three-cornered partnership. Feedback from parents has shaped our new offerings, which includes more +M and wellbeing opportunities, alongside our successful workshops to support learning.

It has been a busy, fun and rewarding term.

We wish you all a wonderful break and hope you can spend some time with loved ones.
