National success
BGS Athletes ShineWe are proud to share that a total of five BGS students represented Victoria at the Junior National Athletics Championships in Brisbane, an outstanding achievement in itself.
These athletes all had to qualify to a very high standard to become part of the Victorian team.

Ariel Friedrich (Year 9, U16) delivered a strong performance in the 800m, finishing fourth in his heat with a PB time of 2:03.39. Ariel also took on the demanding 2000m Steeplechase, placing sixth overall, a great effort.
Jesper Bignell (Year 10, U17) produced an impressive run in the 3000m, recording a PB time of 9:01.40.
In the field events, Mitchell Carney (Year 11, U18) enjoyed a highly successful championships, recording a 6.46m Long Jump and an excellent 14.21m in the Triple Jump, a PB.
Teddy Bowen (Year 9) enjoyed a very successful championship, finishing with a full set of national medals. He won gold in the Heptathlon by 29 points, silver in the Long Jump, jumping a big PB of 6.92 m with his final jump, and bronze in the High Jump, clearing a PB height of 1.92 m.

Archie Sideridis (Year 9) also had an excellent championship run. He won gold in the Under 16 1500m in a time of 3:56:85, and silver in the Under 16 3000m, finishing in 8:50.29.
