Dr Ray Swann
Deputy Headmaster, Head of the Crowther CentreWelcome back to Term 3. I hope that you enjoyed the change of pace over the break and are embracing the return to familiar routines. We have loved seeing the energy and enthusiasm among the boys this week, despite the early alarms and chilly mornings.
Can you believe we are already more than halfway through the academic year? And two-thirds of the way through for our Year 12 students!
The start of a term is a timely reminder that a positive greeting, reconnecting with peers and teachers, returning to meaningful routines, and feeling part of a community all contribute to a young person’s sense of belonging. For boys in particular, the quality of their connections remains one of the strongest predictors of wellbeing. A brief conversation in the car, a shared meal, a walk around the block, or a few minutes of genuine curiosity about their day can have a greater impact than we often realise.

Throughout this term, the Crowther Centre will continue to share practical, evidence-informed insights to support both learning and wellbeing. We look forward to continuing to partner with families, sharing ideas and a deeper understanding of how we can support our boys to learn and grow.
As always, we welcome your feedback and suggestions. If there are particular learning, wellbeing or parenting topics you would like us to explore, please do not hesitate to reach out.
