A ground-breaking partnership between BGS and the MGSE

Welcome to Term 3. I hope all members of the BGS community enjoyed an opportunity to refresh and recharge over the break.

Last week, I wrote to all parents informing them of some key leadership appointments for 2018. One of these was Dr Ray Swann’s promotion to Deputy Headmaster/Head of Crowther (ELC–VCE) from the beginning of next year.

Ray’s new position will enable us to strengthen our focus on teaching and learning as well as our whole-school wellbeing programs, research, staff development, data and partnerships.

Today I am extremely pleased to announce that we have cemented one of these partnerships by signing a ground-breaking Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Melbourne.

This MoU will see BGS and the Melbourne Graduate School of Education (MGSE is the top-ranked graduate school of education in Australia and one of the top five in the world) collaborate on specific projects across a number of areas.

Without doubt, this partnership will ensure that BGS remains a leader in thinking about and understanding education. And it is a sign of the respect that the Crowther is gaining in the field of educational research. It will also help us further develop the ‘BGS way’. Both our boys and our staff will benefit enormously.

My best wishes to all in the BGS community for the term ahead.
