APS Swimming & Diving

After a disrupted 2021 swimming season, all swimmers and divers were eager for the 2022 APS Swimming and Diving Finals Night to go ahead.

The boys had been training hard and early each morning, with the Tuesday morning breakfast a squad favourite.

The squad of 50 also attended Saturday meets against opposing schools, swimming PBs each week whilst some were recognised as Swimmer of the Week, an award provided by Friends of Swimming.

All 36 BGS swimmers swam extremely well on Finals Night and Brighton Grammar finished 7th overall. Highlights were Will Luo (1st 50m Breastroke) and Will Tan (1st in 50m Freestyle).

Our 40 strong Chantologists attended with a lively presence, chanting loudly to help the boys across the line. The night was electric, motivating, nerve racking and certainly one to remember.

Also featured was the Diving squad who all performed magnificently. We were very unlucky to miss the podium with these boys finishing in 4th place: Sebastian Naccarella, U15A; Tom Horton, U15B; Oscar Ettershank, U16A; Tommy Keyte and  Kristian Foster, U17A.

Credit to Josh Smith (OB 2018) and Monica Fly (Diving Coach) for coaching the squad throughout Term 4 2021 and Term 1.
