FREE Self Service Health Check at BGS
In the month of June and in conjunction with Men’s Health Week, we are offering free health checks to all staff, parents and the wider community. This initiative aims to raise awareness about heart health within the BGS community.
From Tuesday 9 June – Saturday 20 June, BGS will host a SiSU Health Station on-site at the Annandale Pavilion first aid room, providing convenient access for everyone to monitor their heart health.
The SiSU Health Stations offer quick, non-invasive checks that include measurements of blood pressure, heart rate, and other critical indicators of cardiovascular health. They were successfully rolled out at the Boxing Day 2023 Test match, delivering 7732 heart health checks.
Friends and family are welcome – we want everyone in the community to take part.
For more information, watch the Health Station how to and explainer or read the health check results document.
Raised blood pressure is linked to cardiovascular related deaths in men aged 25-49 years… but this group generally don’t think of themselves as being at risk.
- 30 men die each day from heart disease
- 64% of males had not had their blood pressure checked in the last 12 months
- 17% of males had high blood pressure, with males having higher blood pressure than females in EVERY age bracket
