Pinball R&D

The Year 5 boys are busily constructing their pinball machines after moving through the research and design phases earlier this term.

This project stretches across many areas of the curriculum: planning (what parts will be required?), maths (are the machine’s angles correct?), woodwork (having learnt the techniques required, the boys are able to work on their machines independently), problem-solving (for example, how to rectify ill-fitting parts), visual arts (some boys are going to considerable effort to paint their machines, even working on them at home) and cooperation (the boys are working in pairs).

A pinball parlour fundraiser is planned for a lunchtime early next term, with funds going to the Baraka School in Kenya. In the meantime, hone your manoeuvres!
