MEDIA RELEASE
Royal South Yarra Lawn Tennis Club – 23 October 2025
I am delighted to announce that we have secured a long-term partnership with Brighton Grammar School (BGS) to deliver all of the School’s tennis coaching programs.
This partnership encompasses the management of the APS tennis program (23 teams), in-school coaching, and a broad suite of community tennis initiatives.
These will include cardio tennis, beginner and development programs, squads, Hot Shots, private coaching, school holiday clinics, and Pennant opportunities designed for both current and past students.
Founded in 1882, BGS is an Anglican school for boys dedicated to developing, inspiring and guiding each student on his journey to adulthood. The School has a proud sporting tradition, particularly in tennis, having won the APS Championship in 2024.
BGS has recently completed a state-of-the-art, three-court rooftop facility atop its new Duigan Centre for Science, Creativity and Entrepreneurship. This stunning venue will become the new home of the St Andrew’s Tennis Club (SATC), which has been using the existing school courts whilst the redevelopment was completed. St Andrew’s Tennis Club was founded in 1911 by Reverend Audrey of the St Andrew’s Parish Church.
Under our new agreement, we will assume operational and management control of the brand new SATC site, delivering BGS coaching programs and hosting SATC member play and coaching. The Club currently has approximately 30 members, with significant capacity for growth.
The existing BGS school courts will continue to support APS training, with overflow activity remaining at Dendy Park Tennis Club (DPTC).
We are also thrilled to share that former ATP professional Richard Fromberg will join our Dendy Park Tennis Club coaching team and lead the BGS Firsts for the 2025/26 APS season. We have assembled a strong Bayside team, and our partnership with Brighton Grammar School will be managed independently of RSY staffing requirements.
We anticipate developing our partnership with BGS and SATC further and exploring new ways to engage the School and wider community.
This is an exciting opportunity for our DPTC operations and coaching team, and we look forward to a long and mutually rewarding relationship with Brighton Grammar School and to seeing this new chapter become the true jewel of Bayside tennis.
Should you have any questions in relation to this partnership with Brighton Grammar School, please do not hesitate to contact me at ceo@rsyltc.org.au or 9829 1556.
