Step back in timeThe Heritage Centre has been transformed into a captivating journey through scientific history. Our school community is invited to come and explore the latest exhibition for Science Month with the theme of Seeds of Science: Nurturing knowledge for all.
This unique display bridges the past and the present, celebrating the evolution of discovery through incredible archival artefacts and hands-on nature studies.

What’s on Display
Vintage Anatomical Posters
Marvel at how students learned anatomy before screens, with our beautifully preserved, 100-year-old biological wall charts.
The Evolution of the Thermometer
Trace the history of temperature measurement from Galileo’s earliest ideas to modern-day instruments, featuring a special Degrees of Geniuses poster.

Archival Scientific Artefacts
Get a rare look at historical laboratory equipment, including an antique ether thermoscope, a classic hygrometer, and vintage glass displays.
Seeds of Science and The Silver Wattle
Explore our interactive seed library and flip through the dedicated research journal to follow the fascinating life cycle of a true local icon, the Victorian native Silver Wattle (Acacia dealbata). You are welcome to take some seeds home to plant.

Whether you are a science enthusiast, a history buff, or simply curious, this exhibition offers a wonderful, nostalgic glimpse into the tools that shaped modern understanding.
The Heritage Centre is located inside the BGS Uniform Shop on St Andrews Street, alongside the historic St Andrew’s Church precinct in Brighton. Opening hours during term time are Monday 7.45am – 11.45am; Tuesday 1.00pm – 4.30pm; Wednesday 7.45am – 11.45am; Friday 1.00pm – 4.30pm; Saturday 8.00am – 12.00pm.
During the Term 2 break, the centre will be open Friday 10 July 1.00pm-4.00pm; Monday 13 July 9.00am-12.00pm; Friday 17 July 1.00pm-4.00pm; Saturday 18 July 9.00am-12.00pm; Tuesday 21 July 1.00pm-4.00pm.
