Victorian Interschools Snowsport Championships

Junior School Success

Congratulations to our JS boys in Divisions 4, 5 and 6 on an exceptional championship campaign. BGS finished 2nd overall in the Primary Boys Schools Championship!  BGS finished on 67 championship points, behind Scotch on 152 and ahead of Haileybury on 58, with points scored across Cross Country, Relay XC, Snowboard, Alpine, Moguls, Snowboard Cross and Ski Cross. Second overall in the state which is an outstanding result. This achievement is highlighted by individual and team podium finishes, strong team performances and several National Championship qualifications.

Division 4 (Year 5/6)

Moguls – A tremendous performance from our BGS athletes. Congratulations to Felix, who claimed Gold in the Division 4 Moguls event after an outstanding finals run. Felix was well supported by Jack and Fred, with the team earning Silver in the Team Moguls event. Jack also finished a very impressive 25th in a highly competitive field.

Snowboard Cross – Congratulations to Barry, who produced an excellent performance to finish Bronze in Division 4 Snowboard Cross. Jasper also produced an exceptional performance. Jasper made the final and finished 13th overall, securing his own place at the National Championships. Brilliant riding, Jasper!

Snowboard GS – Barry was joined by Hudson and Jax, who both performed exceptionally well to help BGS secure the gold in the team event. A huge result for the three boys and BGS.

Alpine GS – BGS athletes skied brilliantly throughout the event. Congratulations to Fred, Felix, Rory and Finn, who finished 6th in the Division 4 Alpine Team event and qualified for the Australian Championships.

Division 5 (Year 3/4)

Alpine GS – The Division 5 A Team of Patrick, Henry, Aleksander and Lewis finished an excellent 10th overall. A special congratulations to Patrick, who finished an outstanding 6th place out of 172 competitors.

Ski Cross – Patrick backed up his Alpine performance with another exceptional result, finishing 6th, just 0.58 seconds behind the winner. Patrick combined with Aleksander and Henry to help BGS secure 9th place in the team event.

Division 6 (Year P-2)

Alpine GS – For many of our Division 6 boys, this was their first Victorian Interschools experience. Congratulations to Ethan, Yuxiang, Hayden and Isaac, who combined to finish an outstanding 8th place in the team event against schools from across Victoria.

Ski Cross – A special congratulations to Ethan, who enjoyed a superb championship, finishing 20th in Alpine GS and 17th in Ski Cross, earning qualification to the National Championships in both events.

Thank you to all of our parent volunteers, team managers, families and staff for their support throughout the week. Your assistance helped make the championships a wonderful experience for all involved.

Congratulations again to all competitors on a fantastic Victorian Interschools campaign. We look forward to following the boys who have qualified for the Australian Championships and wish them the very best of luck.

Secondary School Success

Congratulations to our Secondary School boys in Divisions 1, 2 and 3 on an exceptional championship campaign. BGS finished 3rd overall for Victoria in the Champion Secondary Boys Schools competition, with 124 championship points.

This outstanding result came against schools with much larger Snowsports programs and was highlighted by individual victories, team podium finishes, strong team performances and numerous Top 20 results across the week

Other impressive performances

Division 1

Slopestyle – Hudson Hallinan produced an outstanding performance, finishing 12th in Division 1 Slopestyle. Harry Eyers also finished an excellent 18th, with Hudson, Harry and Beau Rehder combining to secure 4th place in the team event.

Moguls – Hudson backed up his Slopestyle performance with another Top 20 finish, placing 13th. Beau Rehder also finished strongly in 19th, while Hudson, Richard Evans and Harry Eyers combined to finish 6th in the team event.

Ski Cross – Hudson continued his impressive week with 9th place in Division 1 Ski Cross. Alongside Harry Eyers and Richard Evans, Hudson helped BGS secure another 6th-place team result.

Alpine GS – Beau Rehder finished an excellent 12th, with Harry Eyers adding another Top 20 result in 18th. Beau, Harry, Richard and Hudson combined to secure 6th place in the team event.

Snowboard – Tony Zheng enjoyed an excellent day, finishing 10th in Snowboard Cross and 11th in Snowboard GS. Monty Brougham also produced two strong performances, finishing 19th in Cross and 13th in GS. Alongside Spencer Morley, Tony and Monty helped BGS secure 6th place in the Division 1 Snowboard GS team event.

Division 2

Ski Cross –Toby produced another excellent result, finishing 4th, while Harrison Charlton finished 13th and Jack Rehder 16th.

Freeski Slopestyle – Charlie Schutz also performed strongly, finishing equal 14th with a score of 64.00. Together, Max and Charlie secured Gold in the Division 2 team event, finishing 14.50 points clear of Melbourne Grammar.

Moguls – Max also competed in Division 2 Moguls, finishing an excellent 12th individually and combining with Jack Salvo to secure 6th place in the team event.

Division 2 Snowboard Elijah Crabb led the way for our Division 2 snowboarders, finishing 4th in Snowboard GS before adding another Top 10 result with 9th in Snowboard Slopestyle. Oscar Mundy also secured a Top 20 finish in the GS, placing 20th. Elijah and Oscar combined to finish 4th in the team event.

The boys finished the week strongly, with Elijah and Oscar also combining to secure 4th place in the Division 2 Snowboard Cross team event

Division 3

Moguls – Congratulations to Mason Grollo and Tom Salvo, who finished 11th and 15th respectively in a highly competitive Division 3 field. Together with Darby Effeney, the boys combined to finish an excellent 4th in the team event.

Freeski Slopestyle – Darby Effeney also delivered a strong result, finishing equal 19th.

Thank you to our fantastic Snowsports committee, parent volunteers, team managers, families and staff for their extraordinary support throughout the week. The early starts, constant schedule changes, equipment juggling, course duties and endless movement around the mountain do not happen by themselves. Your contribution helped make the championships a wonderful experience for all involved.

Most importantly, congratulations to every boy who represented BGS throughout the Victorian Interschools. You competed hard, supported one another and demonstrated the Tonner spirit throughout an enormous week of competition.
