Touch Football Victory

Congratulations to the BGS First’s Touch Football team who returned victorious from Haileybury, Keysborough in the inaugural J Headlam Invitational Touch Football Cup.

The boys have started the season in fine fashion with a dominant performance, losing only one game to St Kevin’s.

Defeating reigning APS premiers Melbourne Grammar, runners up Haileybury, Scotch, Caulfield and Xavier on the way to a commanding 10 points, defeating our nearest rival Haileybury on 7 points and with a net points difference 11 points better.

Finley Ward (Player of the Tournament) and Callum Ryan were rewarded for their efforts by being selected in the tournament’s Merit team, based on their performances during the day.

It was a gruelling day of 7 back-to-back rounds (with one bye round) with a 10-minute break between games. The coaches and year level coordinators were impressed with the boy’s attitude and teamwork during the day. The tournament will put the boys in good stead for the opening round of the season on 9 November.

In other news, congratulations to the following boys who represented the Victorian Storm team in the National Youth Touch Football Championships in Coffs Harbour recently:

U14 Boys; Alex Wolff (Captain)

U16 Boys; Max Tokava

U18 Boys; Finley Ward, Harry George, Joseph Vela
