Valedictory Day
A procession of memories and belongingA key highlight of Valedictory Week for students, families and staff is Beating the Bounds.
This is a tradition that dates back to former times at BGS and beyond.
When maps were rare and the ability to read reserved for the few, walking the boundaries of a community enabled each generation to pass on information, including landmarks and values, which defined the community and what it meant to belong.
For the Class of 2024, it was their turn to walk the bounds and the length of the school, from St Andrew’s Church to Wilson House in the Junior School and there high five the line of ELC boys and staff.
Then onto the Urwin Centre and past the Rosstrevor Precinct, onto the Crowther Oval and past Annandale Pavillion, crossing beneath the Tower and into the Quad for one last time.
The day was about time spent together, seeing places and people, sharing memories and stories and embracing what it means to be part of the BGS community.
