Learning through connection: Peer to peer coaching

A powerful example of learning in action is evident in our peer-to-peer coaching sessions between our Year 11 and Year 6 boys. These sessions go beyond traditional classroom learning, offering a meaningful opportunity for students to connect, reflect on the term, map out their goals and grow together.

Through this structured coaching, our younger boys are developing valuable skills in goal setting, supported by the guidance and encouragement of their senior peers. Equally, the Year 11 students are learning the art of listening, questioning and leading with empathy – skills that will serve them well beyond their time at School. The result is a mutually beneficial experience grounded in trust, respect and shared purpose.

The impact extends far beyond academic learning. These interactions provide a lived example of positive masculinity in action. Our senior boys model what it looks like to lead with integrity, show up authentically, support others and to contribute positively to the culture of the school. For our Year 6 students, this offers a powerful and tangible vision of who they can become, not only as learners but as young men.

What we are seeing is the strengthening of relationships across year levels, a deeper sense of belonging, and a culture where boys actively lift one another up. It is a reminder that some of the most meaningful learning happens through connection – with one another, and with the values that underpin our community.

We hope you enjoy a change of pace this weekend and the extra day of connection, rest or adventure.
