Ross Featherston

Headmaster, Brighton Grammar School

Welcome back to a new school year. I’m pleased to share that 2025 is shaping up to be both exciting and productive for our community.

Over the holiday break, our grounds, maintenance, and building teams have been hard at work, helping to bring several projects to completion or close to it, including The Duigan Centre, designed for our older students, and the new playground in the ELC, crafted especially for our youngest boys.

Looking ahead, our key priorities for 2025 include:

  • Academic Excellence, with a focus on creating engaging learning experiences.
  • Wellbeing and Positive Masculinity
  • Creativity
  • High Performance in everything we do, each and every day.

I encourage you to take a moment to watch my welcome video, where I share further insights into the year ahead.

I look forward to connecting with you in 2025 and greatly appreciate your continued support of BGS.

Simon Angus

Deputy Headmaster, Head of Secondary School

It was great to see the students back at school today, especially our new Year 7s as they began their exciting journey at BGS.

Last Friday, the Year 12 team and I headed up to Mt Hotham with the Year 12 boys for their Big Fella weekend. The experience was filled with collaboration, motivation, and plenty of creative ideas as the boys planned how to make the most of their final year. The challenging hike was a highlight, offering breathtaking views and a great sense of achievement.

Over the holidays, we also received the keys to the newly completed Duigan Centre, an impressive new building that will provide outstanding learning spaces. We are excited about the opportunities it will offer to our students.

I look forward to connecting with our parent community at the upcoming Parent Welcome Evenings — tonight for Years 7 and 8, and Tuesday for Years 9 to 12.

As we settle into the new school year, I encourage parents to visit the current parent page on our website, which offers up-to-date information for most queries. Welcome back!
