World Class Sailor Kylan!

Up and coming sailor Kylan Thompson (Year 6) had the experience of a lifetime recently when he competed at the 2019 Cadet Class World Championships in Krynica Morska, Poland.

This was the first international sailing trip for Kylan and his teammate, Tom, and all the training at home meant they brought excellent boat speed, team work and fitness to the competition.

The boys raced in the Polish National Championships to get to know the local conditions and experience sailing in a big fleet. At the World Championships, the pair secured top 10 finishes in three of the 12 races and finished 34th overall out of the 65 boats, a great result particularly as they raced against competitors aged up to 17 years.

Kylan’s resilience, positive attitude and a determination for wanting to always improve were key to his success at his first world championships.
