Brighton Grammar Hall of Fame 2022

Nominations have closed. We look forward to announcing our new inductees at the 2022 Hall of Fame ceremony. 

To recognise, honour and celebrate the outstanding achievements of Old Brighton Grammarians.

You are invited to nominate those whom you believe are worthy of induction into the BGS Hall of Fame.

Inductees into the BGS Hall of Fame provide current and future boys with inspiration to strive for the highest in standard and values.

Selection Criteria and Eligibility

A nominee must be an Old Boy who satisfies one or more of the criteria under the section for which they are being nominated.

BGS Hall of Fame (nominees must satisfy one or more criteria):

  • Outstanding achievements at a state, national or international level in their field of endeavour. 
  • Demonstrated outstanding leadership or been widely acknowledged as a leader within their organisation or field.
  • Given outstanding service in their field and/or to others.
  • Produced widely published and acclaimed works.
  • Held a high office in their organisation or field.
  • Performed significant heroism.
  • Has/is generating media attention.

BGS Young Achiever (nominees must satisfy one or more criteria):

  • Within 10 years of completing secondary school
  • Notable early achievements in their field of endeavour
  • Exemplifies the best attributes of youth to make a positive impact on the wider community.
  • Generating media attention.

• An image and short biography of each Inductee is included in the permanent Hall of Fame Gallery at the School.
• Inductees may be invited to attend special events hosted by the School.

• Posthumous nominations will be accepted, as well as self- nominations.
• All nominees will be judged on the merits of their achievements.
• Nominees will be given the opportunity to decline their inclusion into the BGS Hall of Fame.
• Nominees may be asked to provide further details of their achievements and photos, which may be used in the BGS Hall of Fame.
• Unsuccessful nominees, in any given year, will be eligible for nomination in subsequent years.
• Information in support of nominations will remain confidential to the BGS Hall of Fame Selection Committee and the Headmaster. Inductees can be removed from the BGS Hall of Fame for unbecoming conduct at the absolute discretion of  the Headmaster.
• Final endorsement of all nominations will be at the behest of the Headmaster.
• Inductions into the BGS Hall of Fame will occur triennially, unless extraordinary circumstances prevail. There will be no more than 10 inductees in any year – other than the inaugural induction.

• All nominations received will be considered by the BGS Hall of Fame Selection Committee, which includes representatives from the Old Brighton Grammarians’ Society and the School community.
• All decisions are final and not subject to review or appeal, and no correspondence or explanation for acceptance or rejection will be entered into by the BGS Hall of Fame Selection Committee or any member of the School and/or the Old Brighton Grammarians’ Society.

The Nomination Form must be completed and included with your submission.

Applications close Friday 12 November 2021.
All sections must be completed. Please attach all nomination details to the Nomination Form.

All applications must be no longer than nine (9) pages in length, including the nominee and nominator details and signature. Minimum font size 10. Please note word limit listed on the Nomination Form.
