Build a Meal Caddy

Term 4 2025 commences Monday 20 October

Location: Junior School Design and Technology Room

From Brighton Grammar’s Junior School Design and Technology department comes an exciting opportunity for students to further their woodwork skills. In making a Meal Caddy, each student will practice the skills learned in the previous topic.

This is a six-week program for Year 3 and 4 students on Mondays – 3.30 to 4.45pm.

The program is capped at 10 participants per session.

Learning Intention and Success Criteria

The aim of this very practical course is for boys to learn safe and handy techniques to construct a meal caddy. Hopefully, this will foster a love for constructing things. Who knows where it could lead to? After all, architects, engineers, inventors and entrepreneurs started somewhere.

Students will learn:

  • Techniques in measuring, squaring, marking, sawing, sanding, glueing, nailing, nail punching, puttying and applying a clear finish
  • To follow a design process step by step
  • Safe use of tools
