School Calendar

It is expected parents plan holidays away within set holiday periods. If you are planning for your son to be absent from School either side of the holiday break, permission must be requested in advance in writing and addressed to Peter Tellefson, Deputy Headmaster, Head of Junior School.

 

Textbooks & Stationery

2026 textbooks and stationery will be ordered in bulk by Brighton Grammar Junior School and distributed during the first week of Term 1. Please note that charges for textbooks, stationery and subject levies are included in School fees.

 

School Uniform 

Noone Imagewear located at 1/345 Hampton Street, Hampton, supplies the full school uniform including all sports uniforms. Appointments for on-site uniform fittings are conducted at the store. House information for new boys commencing at BGS will be provided to the Uniform shop to assist with the purchase of uniforms.

BGS Personalised Towels are available to purchase from the Junior Parents’ Group.  These premium towels are high quality, 100% cotton, in an adult size (75 x 150cm), emblazoned with BGS colours and with your child’s name embroidered so you will never lose a towel again! Orders can be placed here

In partnership with the BGS JS Library, the Junior Parents’ Group is offering personalised student totes to safely stow library books.  Each bag is 100% cotton canvas (35cm x 40cm) and will be personalised with your child’s name. Orders can be placed here.

 

Class Allocation

Class allocation information will be available via Schoolbox prior to Term 1 commencing. Boys are welcome to take their bags directly to their classroom when they arrive on Day 1. All teachers and boys from Year 1 to Year 6 will gather on Red Square at 8.30am for a brief welcome; parents are welcome to stay for this. 

 

Communication

  • Get to know BGS by accessing and reading the weekly eNews  this will give an ‘insider’s’ view of the Junior School. 
  • For day-to-day operational information, downloading the BGS App will provide you with all you need to know.
  • Schoolbox is our Learning Management System which contains information about your son’s learning.  A year level program, reminders, weekly curriculum focus and important details are available to keep you informed.
  • Consent2Go is an integrated system that allows the School to record health information about your son in an accurate and timely manner through a secure process. The system provides a multitude of benefits, including excursion approvals. 
  • The Parents’ Portal (SynPortal) is a publically available secure webpage for parents to access their own, as well as their son’s, details. SynPortal offers the following facilities:
    • Reports – Access to your son’s Semester Reports in PDF format (downloadable)
    • Finance – Access to your financial statements (School fees, payments etc.)
    • Book – Parent/Teacher Interviews

Medical Information for students with a health condition

If your son has a health condition, please complete and return the General Medical Advice Form and return it to the Junior School Student Medical Officer.
