Co-curricular learning is a vital part of a boy’s education at Brighton Grammar School, enriching classroom learning and helping boys grow into confident and capable young men. The wide range of opportunities across sport, the arts and intellectual pursuits help to nurture character development and a genuine sense of belonging within the school community.
The past week alone has been a wonderful snapshot of this richness in action. Parents would have seen boys shine in the senior school production, demonstrating creativity, courage and teamwork, while the MasterChef competition, featuring international students sharing dishes from their home countries, brought culture and community to life.
Year 6 boys were challenged on their Outdoor Education experience to Camp Coolamatong, making the most of their wet-weather gear while building resilience and great memories.
From the thoughtful discussions of the Ethics Olympiad and book clubs challenging boys to think critically, to the focus and strategy of house chess, alongside the energy of house choral rehearsals and music concerts, boys have been immersed in experiences that build confidence, curiosity and a willingness to have a go.
APS sport continues to play an equally important role, developing resilience, teamwork and pride in representing the School. Together, these experiences show that learning at BGS extends far beyond the classroom and is central to each boy’s development.
For families, this means more than just a busy calendar, it means boys coming home energised, connected and proud of their contributions. These shared experiences strengthen friendships, deepen relationships and build a vibrant, supportive community that extends well beyond the school gates.
For our international parents, I hope you can join us for our Supporting your son at school workshop on Wednesday 3 June at 7.00pm.
If you have any areas of learning you would like to hear more about, please reach out to the Crowther team.
