You would be hard pressed to meet anyone with a better track record at building long term major businesses, than change agent Rob Stewart.

Rob completed Law and Commerce Degrees at the University of Melbourne and an MBA at Harvard, before beginning his career at Pacific Dunlop, in a variety of general management positions spanning five years.

In 1981, at the age of 32, Rob was appointed National Managing Partner at law firm Ellison, Hewison and Whitehead that later became Minter Ellison. In his 18 years in this role, Rob was key to growing Minter Ellison, from a third tier firm of 13 partners and 140 staff to a    top tier national firm of over 170 partners and more than 1500 staff.

Looking for his next challenge, Rob joined tech firm Melbourne IT, as Chairman in 1999 and grew it from a small local firm specialising in domain names, to a global IT services giant with 60% of its business generated from overseas with customers including Microsoft, Yahoo and Lego.

For many years now Rob has had a wide portfolio of activities as a Director and Consultant in information technology, software development, on-line advertising, biotechnology, high technology filtration and packaging, scientific research, education, telecommunications, and forestry companies.

He has had a long involvement with the sport of rowing, including winning two Australian Lightweight Eight titles, a member of the 1978 Australian lightweight team at the World Rowing Championships, coaching the Victorian Lightweight Four in the Penrith Cup for three years, and as President of the Melbourne University Boat Club, one of the leading rowing clubs in the world.

Rob was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in 2012 for services to the community through fostering collaborations between business and the tertiary education sector, to health and technology organisations, and to the sport of rowing.
