One of the responsibilities we take seriously at Brighton Grammar is helping boys find safe and constructive ways to engage with difficult ideas.

In an increasingly complex world, our young people are constantly exposed to a wide range of perspectives, opinions, and influences. Some of these challenge, provoke, or even divide. Rather than shielding boys from these conversations, we believe it is important to equip them with the skills to navigate them thoughtfully and respectfully.

That is the thinking behind our new initiative, Theatre of Dangerous Ideas. Drawing on the knowledge and skills students develop in the Year 10 Holistic Health curriculum, we are inviting boys to help co-design a program that explores the complex questions and tensions they encounter in their lives and online.

At a time when digital algorithms can increasingly reinforce existing beliefs and narrow perspectives, creating opportunities for healthy disagreement, curiosity, and dialogue has never been more important. Theatre of Dangerous Ideas will provide a space where boys can examine challenging topics, wrestle with different viewpoints, and learn how to engage in meaningful conversations with empathy, courage, and respect.
