Improving the behaviour and learning of boys
From the Crowther CentreThe Crowther Centre team continue to lead the way in boys’ education. In the past week, team members have run training sessions at the Improving the Behaviour and Engagement of Boys workshop and at other boys’ schools.
These workshops give teachers the skills they need to create calm and productive classrooms for boys.
Our work is important because boys often lag behind girls on key educational outcomes. Compared to girls, boys:
- Get lower grades
- Higher rates of ADHD
- Are less likely to be able to read
- Less likely to graduate high school
- 3x more likely to be expelled or suspended
(Reeves, 2023)
Fortunately, the outcomes for BGS boys are among the best in the country. If you would like to know more about the work, please take a look at: Crowther Centre – An Engine that Powers School Improvement or The Foundation for Positive Masculinity.
